At the national level, there has been a dramatic increase in prevalence of PDD (especially autism) is labeled an epidemic by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. The Maine Developmental Disabilities Council is putting forth the PDD Systems Change Initiative in Maine to focus are early identification, early intervention, and transition from school to adulthood.
